Currently, Light Emitting Design is Is in the process of developing the smart city software to enable greater flexibility and saving. All future fixtures will have the option to be equipped with an encrypted built-in wireless interface .

The guesswork and physical examination required in traditional lighting infrastructure will be completely eliminated and replaced with an user friendly interface on a computer or mobile device. This interface will track all of the vital statistics of each individual fixture and allow any potential problem to be corrected before damage is caused (i.e. a tree branch is covering the fixture and increasing the operating temperature). The operator can find the exact fixture and correct the problem proactively.
